Running Away

I ran away to a beautiful grassy hill,

And I can see the valley below and it's beckoning to me.

There's a little rippling stream running under the tall trees

Where I stop and sit awhile, where it's peaceful and still.

I sit with my feet dangling in the clear water of the stream.

I lean back against the large cottonwood tree and dream.

The birds iin the trees seem to be singing just for me

As I drift off to sleep so content and peaceful

I dream of a beautiful tomorrow where I'll be free

To just run, laugh and dance, just being me.

Here I am happy, good, pretty and not bad and ugly.

But I awake.  I realize that this was only a dream.

And now I'll have to go back home, for my mother needs me.

But someday I'll make this special dream come true.

The dream by the cottonwood tree

under the big sky so blue.
